If you are coming from my Instagram account, livingwithlow, welcome! If you are new here, I'm glad you found my blog. For a while now, I've been wanting to expand my lifestyle account into a more personal outlet. This blog allows me to do that! I want to share my life in full and formally introduce myself beyond my highlights on social media.
My name is Logan Olivia Walsh, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Most people like to say I make being from Baltimore my personality, and they are correct. I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland. My goal is to get into the Robert H. Smith School of Business. and pruse accounting. This is my very first semester at Maryland, and while this chapter looks different from anything I imagined a year ago, it’s one I’m learning to embrace fully.

I was lucky to grow up in a full house with two loving parents, my twin siblings, and two dogs. Our Baltimore city home was always loud and packed, but looking back, I’m so grateful for it. Growing up in that environment taught me how important family and support really are. My mom, Shannon, was born and raised in Baltimore and attended both Notre Dame Preparatory School and the University of Maryland. It means so much to me that my

sister and I followed in her footsteps, all three of us attending the same high school and college. My dad, Dennis, also grew up in Baltimore and attended Loyola Blakefield. He played Division I baseball at the University of Alabama and later went on to play
professionally for the Detroit Tigers, which definitely influenced how central sports became in our family. My brother, Jackson, attended Boys’ Latin and now plays Division I lacrosse at The Ohio State University, continuing our family’s athletic tradition. Jackson and his twin sister, Devin, are just a year older than me. Being so close in age meant we were often called triplets growing up, and we did almost everything together.

Before transferring to Maryland, I attended Hofstra University, where I played Division I lacrosse. Unfortunately, this past fall, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, which forced me to medically retire from lacrosse. Walking away from a sport I loved, a team I loved, and a school I loved was one of the hardest obstacles I’ve faced. It wasn’t just about losing lacrosse, it felt like I was losing a major part of my identity.

Deciding to transfer to Maryland was one of the hardest decisions I've made. Hofstra felt like my home, but losing lacrosse felt like I was losing the biggest thing in my life. Coming to Maryland is a new chapter in my life. Starting over at a new school without being part of a team was terrifying at first. Athletics had always given me a built-in community and a sense of

purpose. Suddenly, all of that was gone. This transition is pushing me to grow in ways I never expected. I’m excited to explore new interests, meet new people, and redefine what fulfillment looks like for me beyond sports. I am eager to get involved in the university by joining clubs and a sorority! Maryland’s strong academics and sense of community make it the perfect place for this next phase of my life.

livingwithlow is rooted in a lifestyle Instagram account I started back in 2020. Social media has always been a hobby for me. I love to post my life, recipes, workouts, and social moments. I am excited to take the next step and transition my Instagram account into a blog.
My interest in media and journalism also has a personal connection. My mom graduated from Maryland as a journalism major and has always encouraged me to explore the major. Taking my first journalism class feels like continuing her legacy at Maryland. Through this course and this blog, I’m excited to better understand how media shapes culture, identity, and personal stories in this digital age. By the end of the semester, I’m hoping to explore and learn more about questions like:
How does social media affect how college students and athletes see themselves?
What makes social media content feel real instead of forced or staged?
How can blogs and personal pages help peopleconnect more genuinely?
How does social media impact mental health, especially during big life changes?

livingwithlow is more than just a blog. This is a space for reflection, growth, and honesty. This chapter may look different from what I once imagined, but I’m learning that change doesn’t mean loss, it means growth.
